Resources

The University Success office is here to help you to be your best self as a student. Whether you're transitioning to the UNO as a First-Time-Freshman or transfer student in UNIV 1001 or you're trying to sharpen your skills in UNIV 1003, we want to connect you with useful resources that will help you along the way.

  • Campus Departments
    • Academic Advising: Academic advisors work with students to develop and execute educational plans that are aligned with the student’s personal and academic interests, goals, and career plans. Academic advisors also help students choose (or change) majors, select and register in appropriate courses, get connected with academic support services.
    • Career Services: The University of New Orleans Office of Career Services supports and empowers students to be active participants in the career development process. We prepare students to make informed decisions regarding their future by providing comprehensive resources, advising, job readiness workshops, career fairs, and access to internships and employment opportunities.
    • Counseling Services: Counseling Services collaborates with UNO students to achieve their goals around mental health, holistic wellness, and healing.
    • Disability Services: The University of New Orleans Office of Disability Services (ODS) is recognized as the University authority on accommodations for students with disabilities. University policy calls for reasonable accommodations to be made for students with documented disabilities on an individualized and flexible basis.
    • Financial Aid: Meeting the cost of your education is an important part of your success, which is why the Financial Aid office will partner with you from the very beginning to make it happen. Their office will work with you to make sure you get every scholarship, grant, and financial aid opportunity available to you.
    •
    • Privateer Pantry: We love food, we love talking and we love talking about food! Since 2017, the Privateer Pantry has provided supplemental food support to all currently enrolled UNO students. They offer a selection of shelf-stable food and personal care items as well as recipes.
    • Student Involvement & Leadership: The mission of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership is to foster student success and lifelong learning by providing all students with meaningful opportunities for involvement in campus and community life. This will be achieved through initiatives such as: cultural activities, leadership and citizenship development, community involvement programs, and partnerships in service-learning.
    • The HUB: Students often encounter a multitude of challenges that serve as barriers to their academic success. Within the HUB, Student Care Coordinators work collaboratively with students to assess their needs, develop a plan and explore campus and community resources.
    • Writing Center: At the UNO Writing Center, writers at all levels, from freshmen to graduate students, can get feedback on their writing and help with any writing problems they may encounter.
