UNIV Guidelines

UNIV 1001 - University Success:

Attendance and participation in UNIV 1001 has proven to be an effective measure in helping students succeed and persist at the University of New Orleans.

  • All first-year, full-time students are required to enroll in UNIV 1001 in their first semester at UNO (this includes students entering with dual enrollment credits).

    Exemptions

  • Students who choose to enroll in CHEM 1000, BIOS 1002, or MATH 1002 (must be specific major)
  • Students who enter with transfer credit in a first-year seminar or related course can petition University Success Coordinator to be exempt from the above policy.
  • Transfer students, part-time and fully online undergraduate students are NOT required to enroll in UNIV 1001; however, it is strongly encouraged.
  • All students 21 or older are exempt.

UNIV 1003 - Academic Success:

Attendance and participation in UNIV 1003 has proven success in helping students to better their skills and increase their GPA.

  • UNIV 1003 is open to all students who wish to improve their academic success skills. However, enrollment will be limited to freshmen, sophomore and junior students. Seniors, barring any significant explanation, will be restricted from taking this course.
