Graduate Admission Requirements

To be considered for admissions to the Graduate School, applicants must meet the following admissions requirements: 

  • Minimum Academic Credentials
    • Bachelor's degree from a U.S. institution accredited at the institutional level by a USDOE accreditor OR equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad.  
    • Applicants enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's degree or international equivalent will be considered for conditional admission.
    • All transcripts for universities outside of the U.S. must be evaluated by a NACES Evaluation Agency. 
  • Minimum GPA Requirements
    • 2.5 overall grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale for a bachelor's degree, OR
    • 2.75 overall grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework, OR
    • 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 point scale on at least nine hours of graduate coursework.

    Note: some programs may require a separate GPA requirement. Please check the individual program webpages for more information.

  • Minimum Transcript Requirements
    • Applicants must submit transcripts from all four year universities or colleges where they earned a Bachelors and Masters degree (if applicable).
    • Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for conditional admissions decisions and can be uploaded with application.
    • Official transcripts will be required if student is admitted; student must request transcripts be sent to the Office of Admissions before the end of the first semester that they are enrolled.
  • Entrance Exam Requirements

    GRE and GMAT are no longer required for most programs.

    Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

    The institution code for reporting GRE scores to UNO: 6379

    Where required, GRE scores are accepted only for:

    • Tests taken within 5 years of the entrance term.
    • Official scores - those reported electronically to UNO by ETS.

    Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)

    Programs in the Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration that may require GMAT scores are accepted only for:

    • Tests taken within 5 years of the entrance term.
    • Official scores - those reported electronically to UNO by GMAC

    • Many of our programs also require additional items such as a Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, etc.
