JUNIORS- tHIRD YEAR

Third year students will... 

  • Refine their educational and life goals 

  • Prepare for their career and continue with their professional development 

  • Access the tools to grow their leadership skills 

 

Checklist for 3rd year students: 

  • Academic Planning & Support
    • Meet with academic advisor at least once a semester to talk about progress to graduation 

    • Review degree plan and degree audit with advisor to ensure that you are on the right track to graduation 

    • Connect and attend an event with the Office of Research  

    • Attend at least one student/office hour per course, per semester  

    • Maximize the utilization of tutoring and academic services  

    • Visit the Learning Resource Center 

    • Use the Writing Center                             

    • Register for classes for each semester   

  • Career Planning
    • Meet with Career Services to discuss your career path, graduate school, and employment opportunities  

    • Sign up for a mock interview to practice interviewing skills 

    • Update your resume to include leadership skills, activities, certifications, etc. and have it reviewed by Career Services 

    • Talk with a trusted faculty member about any certifications you might need for your career 

    • Attend career services events such as career fairs and grad school expos 

    • Update your Handshake account with an updated photo and resume 

    • Apply for internship and obtain internship 

    • If interested in graduate school... 

    • Research graduate programs 

    • Review requirements for graduate school 

    • Register and participate in admission courses and take tests (GRE, GMAT, MCAT & LSAT) 

    • Connect with the Office of Alumni Affairs and join UNO Matrix platform 

  • Holistic Wellness
    • Foster healthy habits that promote balance of academics, social life, and self-care 

    • Meet with financial aid counselors to get help with any questions regarding financial aid 

    • Fill out and complete FAFSA for the next school year 

    • Contact Bursar’s Office to check on any financial obligations related to UNO 

    • Foster healthy habits that promote balance of academics, social life, and selfcare 

    • Utilize the recreation and fitness center 

    • Maximize utilization of Counseling Services (for example: outreach events, groups, counseling sessions, etc) 

    • Learn more about on and off campus resources offered through the university 

  • Involvement & Leadership
    • Get involved and sign up for organizations that I can be active in and interest me       

    • Apply for leadership positions in student organizations                                                           

    • Attend leadership development workshops, retreats, and programs like the UNO Leadership Retreat 

    • Look into scholarship opportunities within organizations that you are involved in
