Step Three: Fall MAMBO

Fall MAMBO

SAVE THE DATE: Fall MAMBO- August 11-15, 2025

Fall MAMBO is a three-day IN-PERSON orientation and will immerse you into the Privateer experience and prepare you for your first semester at UNO. View your specific MAMBO dates with the schedules linked on the side of this page. If you're an undecided major, choose your schedule based on the area of study you're most interested in.  

 It is required for all incoming first time, full time, first year students enrolled in UNIV 1001, Chem 1000, or Engr 1000  course to attend Fall MAMBO. Transfers are welcome to attend our New Transfer Experience track.

How to RSVP for Step 3: Fall MAMBO:

*RSVPs for Fall MAMBO will open in May*

After you attend Step 1: Registration Day, an email will be sent to your personal email prompting you to RSVP for Fall MAMBO.

MAMBO stands for Move-In, Academic Preparation, Making Memories, Building Connections, Orientation

Highlights of MAMBO

Each student's schedule will feature the following sessions: 

  • Day 1: Charting the Course

    Get your bearings at UNO by attending sessions about:

    • Navigating college life
    • Using Workday, Canvas, & Email
    • Connecting with fellow Privateers
    • Joining the Privateer community
    • Campus Resources 
    •  
  • Day 2: Testing the Waters

    Expand your knowledge by:

    • Learning your Rights & Responsibilities as a student
    • Becoming acquainted with your academic home
    • Make connections with Faculty
    • Getting advice from current students
    • Exploring campus 

    The day will end with a Fun Fair hosted by Student Involvement & Leadership!

  • Day 3: All Hands On Deck

    All of our incoming Privateers will come together to:

    • Hear important stories of growth at BrUNO Talks
    • Break the ice with Playfair! 
    • Meet student organizations at Student Activity Council's Cook Out

    Optional Service Projects will take place in the morning. Make sure to RSVP for those the week leading up to MAMBO.

  • Self Guided Days

    Self Guided Days fill the week between Move-in and your 3 MAMBO Days. This is time for you to settle into college life on your own. Make sure to use this time wisely! We provide a check-list to make sure you are ready to go for the first day of classes! Examples of the check-list: 

    • Find your classrooms
    • Sign up for Privateer Alerts
    • Get your Privateer ID (if you haven't already)
    • Order your Parking Pass 
    • Pay your Fee Bill 
    • Pick up your books from the Bookstore
