How do I navigate my schedule webpage to get my Zoom or video links for online events?
You should have received a link to your schedule book to your UNO email address. (If you did not receive it or accidentally deleted it, please email nse@uno.edu.)
*Please note that Zoom links will only be usable during scheduled Zoom meetings.
-
What do I do if I get disconnected or my power goes out?
Louisiana weather doesn't care that it's MAMBO (and neither do our internet providers)! We know tech issues sometimes happen.
Don't fret, just send an email to nse@uno.edu whenever you get a connection and we'll note your excused absence.
-
Is MAMBO online or in person?
Great question-- it's both!
Your MAMBO schedule will include an Online day, an In-person day, a Service day, and "choose your own adventure" days.
Visit the MAMBO website to view a sample schedule for your College/student type.
-
Where are my links? I haven't gotten any links yet!
Don’t you fret! Your schedule with zoom links will be emailed to your UNO email address.
If your schedule link is not there, please email nse@uno.edu.
-
Do I really need to do all of this?
We know that life doesn’t stop just because of MAMBO. The MAMBO schedule can seem pretty time consuming, but here are some insider tips:
- If your responsibilities don’t conflict with your UNIV & Small Group sessions, attending those are most important as it is an actual class meeting.
- Evening entertainment is optional.
Students who attended MAMBO last year were much more successful in their first year than those who did not attend. Get your year off to a great start by attending as much as possible.
-
What if I have conflicts and can’t make it to everything?
Reach out to us at nse@uno.edu or contact your orientation leader once MAMBO is here.
-
When should I move in?
If you are living on campus, moving in is just one of many ways that MAMBO will help prepare you for a successful first year at UNO! To make sure you don't miss a thing, be sure to move in before your in-person MAMBO day. Read more move-in information from Pontchartrain Halls and Privateer Place.
New International Students should follow the move-in information as directed by the Office of International Students & Scholars.
New Student Athletes will follow move-in instructions provided by the Athletics department and their coaches.
-
I’m not a new student, I’ve already been here for a semester or two. Why did I get a MAMBO Week Schedule?
Returning students who are enrolled in UNIV 1001 should contact their instructor directly to see if they are required to attend MAMBO.
-
I’m a transfer student. Why did I get a MAMBO Schedule?
There are two reasons you may have received a MAMBO schedule:
- You signed up for the New Transfer Experience track. Yay!
- You are enrolled in UNIV 1001.
If you believe you have received a schedule by mistake, please contact us at nse@uno.edu.
-
I need disability-related accommodations to participate in MAMBO. How do I get them?
Please contact us at nse@uno.edu to set up your accommodations.
-
What devices do I need to participate in MAMBO?
Ideally, having both a computer and smartphone make for the best MAMBO experience, but having either/or will still let you participate fully! Only the first day is virtual.
If you do not have a computer, the Earl K. Long Library has a limited number of laptops available for students to check out. If you wish to check out a device, please email libref@uno.edu.
*We have been made aware that there are compatibility issues with Chromebooks and the Zoom client. If you are using a Chromebook and require additional information about your Zoom meetings to connect, please contact nse@uno.edu. You may also choose to join from your phone instead.
-
The links aren't working in my daily schedule.
If the links in your daily schedule are not clickable, just right click the link and copy and paste it into a browser window.
When you enter the link, a window will pop up prompting you to start Zoom. Click "yes" or "allow" so that you can use Zoom to enter the meeting!
If you enter the link and it prompts you for a password, please email nse@uno.edu and we can provide you with additional log in information.
-
What apps do I need to have for MAMBO?
You will need to have Zoom downloaded on your phone or computer to attend Fall MAMBO activities.
-
Why isn't MAMBO fully in person?
We will always prioritize the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. As more people get vaccinated and COVID-19 guidelines change, we have added some in-person components to our program!
PAR DAY FAQ
-
How do I register for a Privateer Advising and Registration Day?
Once registration opens, admitted students will receive an email to their personal email account with a link to apply.
-
Are there any fees associated with Privateer Advising and Registration Days?
No! All you need to do to attend a PAR day is to register for a date offered for the semester in which you plan to enroll.
-
Are Registration Days mandatory?
Yes. Students are unable to register for classes until they’ve met with their academic advisor—coming to a Registration day is important to making sure you’re set up for success from the moment you step foot on campus for the first time as a Privateer!
-
Are students required to bring a guest?
No, but we highly encourage it! College can be a change for everyone in a student’s life—the more you know, the more you can help!
-
Do all transfer students have to attend a Registration Day?
All undergraduate transfer students under 60 credit hours or under the age of 25 are required to attend a transfer Registration day.
-
Why do students need to send official final transcripts?
You don’t need to submit an official, final transcript before advising, but it does help us create the best fall schedule for you.
-
Is housing provided for Registration Days?
We cannot provide housing for this program. If you are traveling from outside of the region, we encourage you to book a hotel room through Campus Travel.
Zoom Meeting FAQ
-
I'm not sure how to use Zoom.
No worries! Here is a helpful tutorial for you to watch on Youtube:
-
My Zoom links aren't clickable!
Your links should still work! Just highlight the link, copy and paste it into a browser window. A pop-up will prompt you to open the link in Zoom. Click "yes."
-
I see "Please wait, the meeting host will let you in soon."
Your meeting or workshop hasn't started yet! Just hang out and the Zoom room will magically open when the host lets you in.
-
It says my meeting host is in another meeting.
First, check your schedule! Your zoom link probably won't work until about 10 minutes before your next meeting or activity.
If you see this message during your scheduled class or workshop time, contact your orientation leader or email nse@uno.edu.
-
It says my meeting id is invalid.
If you see this message, contact your orientation leader or email nse@uno.edu.
-
It says I need a password or passcode.
Double check your daily schedule to see if the passcode was provided.
If you do not have a passcode and you see this message, contact your orientation leader or email nse@uno.edu.
On-Campus Living FAQ
-
I need my Student ID to check in. How do I get it?
Pick up your Student ID at the Computing Center prior to checking into Pontchartrain Halls. You must present your Driver's license, State Identification Card or Passport to pick up your Student ID.
The Computing Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
-
Should I reach out to my roommate(s) before move-in day?
Absolutely! We encourage you to chat with your roommates about your expectations for your suite.
The Office of Residential Life encourages roommates to work together to outline things that will impact their comfort in the suite: guests, cleaning expectations and cleaning supplies, shared appliances, temperature, etc.
-
Can I have a car or bicycle on campus?
As a resident, you can have a bike and/or car and park it near the halls.
Be sure to register your Vehicle and Bicycle. Gather your vehicle registration and driver's license as your vehicle will have to be registered with the Office of Residential Life and receive a new decal each semester. If you brought a bicycle to campus, register your bicycle with the Office of Residential Life.
