Huimin Chen, Ph.D, holds the Don E. Wilson Chevron Professorship. Dr. Chen has been a professor at the University of New Orleans since 2002. He came to UNO immediately upon completing his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Chen’s research interests include: detection and estimation theory, digital signal processing, data fusion and communication, statistical inference and Bayes data analysis, and computational learning theory and computational intelligence. He is an active contributor to the Information and Systems Laboratory where basic, applied, and advanced research with a focus in the areas of information and/or systems, such as processing of information, data, signal, and image in various systems is pursued. His work includes systems approaches to control, communication, computer, and power systems and networks. Typical examples of work being done in this lab include target tracking, data fusion, signal detection, machine learning, and pattern recognition.
