Edward Petersen is a featured soloist with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, a group that won the 2010 Grammy Award for “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Recording.” He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and many other major concert halls and festivals throughout the United States, Europe, and Brazil. He has played with J.J. Johnson, Johnny Griffin, Clifford Jordan, Jay McShann, Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Williams, Eddie Harris, and others. He has recorded with Kurt Elling, Ron Carter, Cedar Walton, Clark Terry, Art Farmer, Willie Pickens, Von Freeman, Fareed Haque, Jason Marsalis, Ramsey Lewis, Frank Mantooth, Johnny Adams, and Ruth Brown. His playing and compositions are featured on over fifty albums and many television, radio, and motion picture soundtracks. He has recently released a new CD featuring twelve of his compositions entitled “The Mission.” Mr. Petersen is an Artist/Clinician for Julius Keilwerth Saxophones. He received a Louisiana Division of the Arts Artist Fellowship in Music Performance in 2002 and has received Special Composers’ Awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) fourteen times.
