These groups provide events for students studying in a particular field of study, such as the College of Business Executive Council, the Society of Women Engineers, or the Crescent City Shapers (Urban Planning).

Business

American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA)

Purpose: To deliver quality hospitality education, training and professional certification that serves the needs of hospitality schools and industries worldwide.


American Marketing Association (AMA) 

Purpose: To offer its membership career resources, platforms for professional development and leadership development in the field of marketing.


College of Business Executive Council (CBEC) 

Purpose: To provide knowledge and experience for professional development through student involvement in CBEC's activities, stimulate the awareness of student involvement with all active business student organizations within the College of Business Administration, and improve communication between business students and the College of Business faculty and administration.


Finance and Economics Association

Purpose: To provide an academic and social organization promoting the sharing of knowledge of all aspects in the fields of Finance and Economics and serving as a community of interest and activity for its members.


Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Association

Purpose: To focus on leadership opportunities, academic purposes, and recreational activities.


Human Performance & Health Promotions (HPHP)

Purpose: To network, explore career paths, and get to know classmates in human performance and health promotions classes better.


Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) 

Purpose: To provide information on careers in business, with an emphasis on accounting positions at times.


Louisiana Restaurant Association 

Purpose: To promote the professional development of its membership through education, community service and an active participation in the restaurant and hospitality industries.


National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) 

Purpose: To educate graduate and undergraduate business students on all of the current and future opportunities available to them in the field of accounting.


National Society of Minorities in Hospitality 

Purpose: To educate in order to aid in the recruitment, retention, support, and advancement of all minority students in the hospitality industry.


Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 

Purpose: To provide UNO students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into the field of HR through affiliation with NOLA SHRM and the national SHRM organization.


Women In Business

Purpose: To provide an academic and social organization encouraging knowledge of all aspects of the field of business, as well as philanthropically serving the New Orleans community as a network of women.

Engineering

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

Purpose: To provide essential value to our members and partners, advance civil engineering, and serve the public good.


American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

Purpose: To provide prospective mechanical engineers with upperclassmen mentors, major specific reference material, and involvement with extracurricular activities.


Baja Organization

Purpose: To design, build, test, and race an off-road vehicle each year as an engineering team.


Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)

Purpose: To disseminate knowledge of the theory and practice of all aspects of electrical engineering, electronics, radio, allied branches of engineering or the related arts and sciences, as well as the furtherance of the professional development of students.  


National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE)

Purpose: To provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of corrosion technology. NACE also provides fellowship for persons involved in the prevention and control of corrosion.


National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

Purpose: To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers, who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.


Society of American Military Engineers (SAME)

Purpose: S.A.M.E is a club that offers the opportunity to student to be able to make connections and to start applying what they learn in the classroom into designing innovative solutions to real-world problems.


Society of Hispanic Academic & Professional Engineers (SHPE)

Purpose: To provide an academic as well as social organization encouraging knowledge of all aspects of the field of Engineering within the Hispanic community, and also serving as a community of interest and activity for its members.


Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME)

Purpose: To encourage knowledge in the field of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and unite individuals with an interest in the marine industry as well as the furtherance of the professional, academic, and social development of the membership.


Society of Petroleum Engineering

Purpose: To help get students gain connections with people in the oil and gas field; open to all majors although it is an engineering club.


Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

Purpose: To stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.

Sciences

Anthropology

Purpose: To provide opportunities for research, community, and discussion amongst anthropology majors or students interested in anthropology as a discipline.

American Association of Petroleum Geologists

Purpose: To provide educational as well as professional experiences and opportunities to all students interested in geosciences at UNO.


American Mathematical Society

Purpose: To foster the academic, social and general welfare of, as well as represent to outside entities, registered UNO students pursuing Master of Science (M. S.) or doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees within the Mathematics Department.


Association for Computing Machinery - Women's Chapter

Purpose: To prompt community and leadership among women in STEM, namely, Computer Science.


Biology Graduate Student Association

Purpose: To establish a socially and academically stimulating relationship between the Biology Graduate Student Body, and establish relationships with the Faculty and Administration for the school in order to address concerns of the Biology Graduate Student Body.


Chemistry Club

Purpose:  To unite students with similar interests in science.


Data Science and Machine Learning

Purpose: To teach undergraduate engineering students about the fields and applications of Data Science for engineering and computer science.


Graduate Chemical Society

Purpose: To bring together graduate students together and to serve the community.


Healthcare Student Association (HSA)

Purpose:  To coordinate healthcare/public health-related projects on campus for students either majoring in Healthcare Management or interested in a healthcare field (such as premed, nursing, etc. students). 


Marine Science Club

Purpose: To foster interest in marine science through activities, service, and gatherings.


Physics Club

Purpose: To encourage and assist students interested in physics to develop the knowledge, competence, enthusiasm, and social responsibility that are essential to the advancement of physics, stimulate interest in advanced study and research in physics, and develop collegiality and a sense of community among physics students and faculty members by providing social events.


Pre-Dental Society

Purpose: The University of New Orleans Pre-Dental Society is a pre-professional organization for students interested in professional careers in the field of dentistry, dental hygiene, and dental lab technology.   Each semester,  members have the opportunity to benefit local communities by volunteering at various philanthropic events promoted by the society.  Additionally, UNO PDS provides members with necessary information for each programs' application process including application requirements, deadlines, and exposure to the dental world. 


Pre-Veterinary Society

Purpose: To allow students interested in veterinary medicine as a career to interact with each other and provides an opportunity to gain information and experiences relevant to veterinary medicine.


Psychology Graduate Student Association

Purpose: To provide academic and social opportunities for graduate students in the Psychology Department and build knowledge of all aspects of the field of Psychology and serves as a community of interest for its members.


Robotics Club

Purpose: To compete in the IEEE R5 Student Robotics Competition. However, we welcome anybody interested in Image Processing, Sensor, Microprocessors or just wanting to be part of our STEM-interested community. 


Society for Earth and Environmental Science (SEES)

Purpose: To contribute to the greater good of the Earth and Enviromental Sciences and to the good of the University of New Orleans.


Society of Women in Space Exploration (SWISE)

Purpose: To promote and encourage more women, diversity, and inclusion in multidisciplinary fields of space exploration. Through organization, networking, and volunteering, SWISE empowers individuals to grow and challenge themselves personally and professionally.


Solar Splash

Purpose: To design and build a 19 ft long vessel to compete at the Solar Splash competition in Springfield, Ohio.

Other

Club of Art History Majors

Purpose: To establish an academic community where all Art History majors may share ideas, and help one another in preparing for the future beyond the bachelor’s degree.


Crescent City Shapers

Purpose: To provide an academic as well as social organization encouraging knowledge of all aspects of the field of urban studies and urban planning as well as serving as a community of interest and activity for its members.


Developer Student Club

Purpose: To provide an academic as well as social organization encouraging knowledge of all aspects of the fields of technology, software, and engineering and also serving as a community of interest and activity for its members.


Education Leadership Alliance (EdLA)

Purpose: To create a space where students in UNO’s EDAD program can leverage their learning and experience into actions that develop the holistic and structural supports necessary to fulfill students’ social, professional / research, and academic needs while building an exceptional academic learning community.


Future Lawyers

Purpose: To provide an academic and social organization encouraging knowledge of all aspects of the field of law with consideration of the following aspects: LSAT preparation, Law School Fairs in Greater New Orleans Area, and Tours of Law Schools.


International Game Developers Association (IGDA)

Purpose: To explore game design and development and connect to others with the same passion.


Lakeside Toastmasters

Purpose: To provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop their communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.


Model United Nations (Model UN)

Purpose: To familiarize individuals with the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of the United Nations organization and its activities, and to prepare delegations of students to participate in major conferences, including the National Model United Nations (NMUN) in New York City every spring, and, every other year, at an international site.


Philosophy Club

Purpose: To bring people together in an intellectually stimulating environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and open-ended discussion through philosophical perspectives.


Public Administration Student and Alumni Association (PASAA)

Purpose: To provide a space for networking and professional growth for students, faculty, and alumni of the public administration program.
