Civil and Environmental Engineering Concentration

MS in Engineering (CEE concentration)

New Orleans and surrounding areas serve as a living laboratory for innovative teaching and research opportunities in various disciplines within Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at UNO. As the only CEE degree offering programs in southeast Louisiana, our degree offers the following advantages:

The Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department offers graduate level courses and research opportunities in the following areas:

  • Structural Engineering
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering
  • Coastal Engineering and Sciences

MS in Engineering degree options

The students have two options to obtain the MS in Engineering degree at UNO. Details about the two options:

Thesis Option

  • 24 credit hours of graduate-level coursework
  • 6 credit hours of Master's thesis

Non-Thesis Option

  • 27 credit hours graduate-level couresework
  • 3 credit hours of master's project

 

Applicants without an undergraduate degree in Engineering

If the undergraduate degree is not in Civil Engineering or related field, the student will have to take foundation courses before he/she can be admitted as a degree seeking student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program. Information about these prerequisite courses can be found in the following table.

Please note that not all courses are offered every semester.

Graduate Certificate in Coastal Engineering

The CEE department at UNO also offers a graduate level certificate (Graduate Certificate in Coastal Engineering). The coastal certificate courses can be used towards the MS in Engineering degree. Information regarding course offerings, academic requirements, application procedure, deadlines etc. can be found at ceas.uno.edu.
