What We Do
Our mission is to enrich the student experience at UNO through representation, advocacy, programming, and the funding of services and events that improve campus life.
Your Student Government is currently transitioning into a Student Government Association. We appreciate your patience as we work to better serve you!
The executive branch of UNO's Student Government Association consists of the president, vice president of legislative affairs, vice president for programming, and vice president. The role of the Executive Department is to maintain the direction and objectives of the Student Government Association.
The Legislative Department is better known as the Senate. The Senate is composed of six colleges (College of Liberal Arts, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Development, College of Sciences, College of Engineering, and Interdisciplinary Studies) and ten at-large seats (two each for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students). Senators work to represent the needs and interests of students at UNO. They write and pass legislation designed to improve the UNO student experience.
The Judicial Department is better known as the Supreme Court, and fills two main roles in the Student Government Association: Acts as an independent mediator of disputes arising within SGA and as the ultimate interpreter of all documents. This department also handles student and student organization appeals and mediation.
Privateer Council Department
The Privateer Council is a new governing body for student organizations to meet and share their ideas and concerns for improving campus life at the University of New Orleans. This department is comprised of student organization presidents.
The Programming Department is the Student Activities Council (SAC). SAC will continue to plan and host events on campus to promote involvement, including but not limited to: Welcome Back Luau, Homecoming Week, and SUCbAUF annual campus-wide crawfish boil. The programming department provides events and activities to improve campus life.
