The University of New Orleans has announced the addition of Mal Mundy to the coaching staff of its men's basketball program. A New Orleans native and nationally recognized scout, Mundy brings years of experience in player development, talent evaluation, and event coordination to the Privateers.
Mundy is the founder of HoopFest Tour Basketball and the Big Easy Coaches Conference. Through HoopFest, he has directed national recruiting efforts and organized tournaments, camps, and showcases that have supported thousands of student-athletes in their athletic and academic goals.
In addition to his experience in talent development, Mundy has played a significant role in professional education for coaches. His Big Easy Coaches Conference has featured dozens of NCAA Division I head coaches and has become a valuable development opportunity for coaches across all levels.
Mundy is a graduate of Helen Cox High School and competed as a student-athlete at multiple institutions before completing his undergraduate education. He earned a B.A. in Education from Trinity Christian University and most recently earned a B.A. in Management from the University of Phoenix in 2024.
