Composition Concentration

Request Info

The Composition concentration utilizes private lessons, group seminars, and core courses to develop the student's individual creative voice. Through study with world-class faculty and guests, students are equipped with the skills required of the 21st Century composer. In addition, students are provided ample opportunities to have their works critiqued and presented by university ensembles and by visiting master artists.

State of the art studios and labs allow creativity at the cutting edge of technology, while UNO's theatre and film and programs, which are closely entwined with regional theatre productions and Louisiana's "Hollywood South" film industry, offers opportunities for scoring and sound editing.

In addition to the required coursework, candidates are required to present a full recital and a portfolio of at least 30 minutes' duration and pass a comprehensive written and oral examination.
