Your college courses will throw a lot of information at you. Here’s are some techniques that will help remember what you learned for that upcoming test.

    POMODORO Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a task-oriented time management tool created by Francesco Cirillo that is perfect for studying, writing essays, and completing assignments. The Pomodoro Technique helps prevent procrastination, makes completing tasks more manageable, and rewards task accomplishment. Here is how it works:

    1. Write a to-do list of tasks you would like to accomplish
    2. Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on a single task
    3. Once the timer rings, check off one Pomodoro interval and take a 5-minute break
    4. Alternate between 25 minutes of work and 5-minute breaks until you have completed 4 Pomodoros
    5. Reward yourself with a 20 to 30-minute break after every 4 Pomodoros

The best part about the Pomodoro Technique is that you can adjust the 25-minute Pomodoro intervals to suit your attention level and the task. You might want to work in 15-minute or 45-minute Pomodoro intervals. Over time, you will notice your attention tolerance is longer and you're more productive.

We encourage you to use the LRC's Pomodoro Tracker to help you use this technique. We have Pomodoro timers and study materials in the LRC's office in the library available for use.

With so many things to juggle within a busy academic schedule, adding in some time every day to seek ways to improve financial wellness will help you feel less stress. Keeping track of expenses, making a budget, and sticking to it are important skills to have in order to be finically responsible and independent.

  • EMOTIONAL WELLNESS

    EMOTIONAL WELLNESS

Emotional wellness inspires self-care, relaxation, stress reduction and the development of inner strength. It is important to be attentive to both positive and negative feelings and be able to understand how to handle these emotions. Emotional wellness also includes the ability to learn and grow from experiences. Emotional well-being encourages autonomy and proper decision-making skills. It is an important part of overall wellness.

Emotional wellness allows you to accept how you are feeling. Once you accept your feelings, you can begin to understand why you are feeling that way and decide how you would like to act in response to those feelings. Being emotionally well grants you the power to express feelings without any constraints. In turn, you will be able to enjoy emotional expression and be capable of forming supportive and interdependent relationships with others.
