Hurricane Zeta is forecast to be a Category 2 storm when it makes landfall in southeast Louisiana this afternoon, bringing potentially damaging winds and several inches of rain to metro New Orleans. The weather will deteriorate early this afternoon. Please shelter in place and stay off the roads during the storm. Zeta is moving quickly, which means it should move out of our area before midnight.
For on-campus residents, the Galley will be open today until 1 p.m. for breakfast and lunch. Pontchartrain Market will remain open until 10 p.m.
We will provide additional updates via email, Privateer Alerts, uno.edu, social media and the news media. Please stay safe.

The University has already begun to prepare campus for Zeta, including making sure that back-up power supplies are ready for use. We will make a decision about Thursday’s operations tomorrow and communicate that via email, Privateer Alerts, uno.edu, social media and the news media.
This has been unlike any hurricane season in the history of our state. I am thankful for your vigilance, patience and cooperation.
