Facilities

Great City, Great University

The founding of the University of New Orleans in 1958 marked the beginning of public higher education in the New Orleans metropolitan area. Under the leadership of Chancellor Homer L. Hitt, the University of New Orleans committed to the ideals of academic excellence and accessibility to all.

Since the first graduating class in 1962, the University of New Orleans has conferred more than 70,000 degrees and remains committed to its mission to provide students, faculty, staff, and friends a welcoming place to learn and engage with the community.

What does it mean to be a professor at UNO?

"To be a UNO professor encompasses two sets of ideas. First, it means I get to interact with students ... every time I walk into a classroom, they teach me something! Second, I have the ability to focus on learning new things to bring into my lectures through my research ... Engaging in the research alerts me to new trends in business and enhances my teaching skills."

Dinah PayneDinah Payne,
Professor of Management

With more than thirty buildings on the main campus including Kirschman Hall, the University Center, Research and Technology Park, East Campus athletic facilities, UNO Lakefront Arena, the Cove, and the Sandbar, the University of New Orleans is one of the city's most important resources. The University of New Orleans' campus provides a center for educational resources and necessary research in the Greater New Orleans area.

Your support helps to enhance and build facilities that will continue in the legacy of Homer L. Hitt. Gifts made to the upkeep and development of the University of New Orleans' facilities aid in the construction of state of the art lab space, improve student study space, and expand the University of New Orleans' classroom resources.
