How to Apply

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the MS and PhD program must meet the following requirements for admission:

  • Overall GPA requirement set by the graduate school: undergraduate 2.5, graduate 3.0.
  • Mathematics background: must have taken Math 2134 (Calculus III) and 3511 (Introduction to Linear Algebra) or equivalent.
  • International applicants must satisfy the language requirement set by the graduate school.

MS applicants meeting the above requirements are generally admitted to the program.

Teaching assistant positions, which include a tuition waiver and a stipend, are competitive and all applications for TA positions are reviewed by the Graduate Advisory Committee. If available, submission of General GRE exam scores is encouraged for applicants interested in a TA position, though it is not required. Applicants interested in being considered for a TA position should notify Graduate Coordinator Linxiong Li.

Application is considered to be completed only if all required materials such as application fee payment and official transcripts are received by the deadline.

Please read the graduate checklist prior to completing the online application.

  1. Go to apply.uno.edu
  2. Go to the "Graduate" column and click on the the link
  3. Click the "Create Account" tab located on the top right-hand side of the page
  4. Fill out the online application and attach the necessary documents
    *Please contact the Graduate Coordinator for list of necessary documents for the application.
  5. Details about Graduate School admission requirements
  6. Submit official transcripts from each institution that you have attended. International students may also need to submit certified English translations and evaluations of your transcripts. Learn more
