About
Caroline Mendez is a mixed-media fine artist born in Caracas, Venezuela to a Cuban father and a British mother. Form, composition and color were daily companions during her upbringing, eventually leading her to formal studies at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. She earned her B.F.A in 1997 with a focus in Graphic Design and Interactive Media. While at Ringling, she also fell in love with book arts, paper making, painting and print making. When not behind a computer, she has focused heavily on these mediums. She has spent the last 25 years as a graphic designer, creative director, and when not at UNO she is a branding and media consultant for artists and companies around the world. She has worked with brands such as Diageo, Wrigley, Home Depot, Subway and Timex in a wide range of projects from Internet marketing and web development to branding and strategy. Her extensive exploration of graphic design combined with love of textiles and handmade paper, as well as influences such as Joán Miro, Kandinsky and Robert Rauschenberg have come together to form her current fine art aesthetic.
Caroline Mendez is responsible for event programing coordination and marketing for all public events hosted by the School of the Arts. She also works with the Director of the School of the Arts on strategic planning for recruitment and community engagement as it relates to the school.
