Nick Manicke is an Associate Professor of chemistry and forensic science at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI). His research involves developing new chemical measurement technologies to address problems in toxicology, defense, and medical applications. Manicke joined the chemistry department at IUI in 2013 after spending two years as the founder and principal scientist of a Purdue University spin-out company based on technology Manicke co-invented as a post-doctoral researcher. Manicke continues to be active in spin-out companies, having founded Wik Devices with Justin Wiseman and Brian Laughlin in 2020 to commercialize novel drug testing technologies. Manicke earned his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Purdue University in 2009 under the supervision of R. Graham Cooks. He has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers on mass spectrometry including recent papers in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Clinical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Journal of Forensic Sciences. He has delivered podium presentations at the ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry, Mass Spectrometry & Advances in the Clinical Lab, and national ACS meetings among others.
