UNO Fine Arts Gallery Hosts "Resilience: The Healing Power of Art"

Graduate students of the Louisiana State University School of Art are showing their work this month at the University of New Orleans Fine Arts Gallery. LSU and UNO arts programs enjoy a reciprocal relationship that will allow UNO fine arts students to show their work at LSU.

“It is a visual and cultural exchange from our up and coming young artists,” said Artist-in-Residence Ariya Martin.

Resilience: The Healing Power of Art opened runs through Feb. 28 at the UNO Fine Arts Gallery on the Lakefront Campus. The show is part of an exchange program with LSU School of Art arranged by Martin and LSU Professor Malcolm McClay. Resilience is the gallery’s inaugural exhibition for the spring semester.

Showing their work on the UNO campus are LSU graduate students: Chelsea Ramirez; Ian C. Minich; Mike Stumbras; Bri Ozanne; Adam Meistrell; Jono Wright; Jamie Kutner; Leah Hamel; Brittany Sievers; Taryn Moller Nicoll; Naomi Clement; Brian Deppe; Abigail Smithson; Eric Euler; Jenni Lombardi; Kelsey Livingston; M. Robyn Wall; Andrea Berg; Cassidy Creek; Morgan Anderson; Elizabeth Welch; Masy Heber and Melodie Reay.

“The works on display are by LSU graduate students only,” Martin said. “It is a variety of mediums- ceramic, printmaking, painting and sculpture and photography.”

The UNO show at LSU has not yet been scheduled, Martin said. All will be invited.
