Rising star Sean Chen won the 2013 American Pianists Association's DeHaan Classical Fellowship, one of the most lucrative and prestigious prizes available to an American pianist. The 26-year-old also won third prize at the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, becoming the first American to reach the finals since 1997. He has appeared as a soloist with a number of orchestras including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Suwon City Philharmonic in South Korea.

The Quink Vocal Ensemble is a group of four Dutch singers who have built a reputation by captivating audiences with an expressive a cappella repertoire. The members of Quink are experienced soloists who are at home with various styles that range from early Renaissance to modern music. Quink's first United States tour in 1985 was so successful that the group now returns each season. Critics have lavished praise on Quink, including the Philadelphia Inquirer, which said, "The group has a tight, polished sound. The surface of the music glistened, and the intonation was flawless. Only practiced musicians who additionally are humble enough to allow their voices to be included within the whole sound can create such music."

The VIDA Guitar Quartet brings together four of the United Kingdom's most exceptional guitarists. VIDA has recently appeared on some of North America's most prestigious stages for classical guitar, including the Long Island Guitar Festival and the Allegro Guitar Series in Dallas, Fort Worth and Las Vegas. In 2013, the group followed up its acclaimed debut album, "Love the Magician," with "Rhapsody," featuring the works of George Gershwin, Malcolm Arnold and Adam Gorb.

Musical Excursions is presented jointly by the Department of Music and the Arts Administration Program at the University of New Orleans. The sponsors for the 2015 series are: the Harper Family Foundation, the Mitchiner-Gittinger Family Foundation, 89.9 WWNO and UNO Student Government.
