UNO Master of Business Administration Students Present Research at National Marketing Conference

University of New Orleans Master of Business Administration students will present research next week at a national marketing conference.

The Society for Marketing Advances Conference is a national marketing research conference which brings together marketing academics and professionals from throughout the United States and abroad. The conference will be held Nov. 5-8 in New Orleans, at the Hotel Monteleone. Two UNO MBA students will present their work.

Elizabeth Joint, an MBA student in the College of Business Administration, will present research on the use of emotional appeals in health care advertising. She worked on the research with Associate Professor of Marketing Elyria Kemp, who holds the University's Bank One Endowed Professorship in Minority & Emerging Business, and Associate Professor of Marketing Kyeong Sam Min, who holds the University's Sidney Baron Endowed Professorship in Marketing. Her presentation is entitled, "Hope in Health Care Marketing: Exploring the Effectiveness of Emotional Persuasive Appeals in Health Care Decision Making."

UNO MBA student Lauri Patterson will also present at the conference. Her research addresses the use of gamification technologies in teaching pedagogy. She collaborated with UNO Associate Professor of Marketing Elyria Kemp and Kim Williams, associate professor of Hospitality, Restaurants and Tourism, on the research. Her presentation is entitled, "Enhancing Student Learning Using Gamification Methodologies."
