UNO College of Sciences Celebrates 41st Honors Convocation

The 41st annual College of Sciences Honors Convocation was held on Wednesday, April 23, in the University Center Ballroom. Outstanding undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for achievements in the sciences.

The evening began with a welcome from UNO President Peter J. Fos, followed by the presentation of the 2014 Undergraduate Teaching Award to Dr. Stanley Leibo, professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. Dr. Leibo was praised for his lengthy career of excellence in teaching and research in the field of embryo cryopreservation.

Sadly, Dr. Leibo died on March 25; the award was presented posthumously to his daughter, Beth.
After the presentation of departmental awards, the convocation concluded with Dean Steve Johnson's presentation of the Dean's Award to summer 2013 graduate Taylor Clements. Mr. Clements graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
