UNO Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Announces New Class of Emerging Leaders

SILDuring the eight-week Emerging Leaders leadership certificate program, UNO students build leadership skills designed to help them become better citizens and ethical leaders.

The University of New Orleans Emerging Leaders Program is an extracurricular leadership certificate program designed for freshmen and sophomore undergraduate students aspiring to develop further their leadership skills. In January, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership proudly announced 25 new members aiming to gain the confidence and skill sets needed to become responsible citizens and ethical leaders in the University community.
“Students are selected to be Emerging Leaders based on their passion for involvement and leadership development, university spirit and dedication to bettering their community,” said Dale O’Neill, coordinator of leadership and community service programs at UNO. “We are very proud to announce this year’s participants.”

The Emerging Leaders Program aims to strengthen students’ leadership skills through group activities, reflection on current social issues, mentoring from campus leaders and relationships with administrators and staff, O’Neill said. The eight-week certificate program helps participating students to get further involved on campus, build a strong foundation of leadership skills and make a better transition into the college environment.
