Privateer Athletics to Stage Fan Fest Prior to Friday Hoops Opener

A variety of fun, family-friendly activities are in store Friday outside of Lakefront Arena

A variety of fun, family-friendly activities will help to get fans excited in the moments leading up to tip-off of the 2012-13 season for the New Orleans Privateers and Lady Privateers outside Lakefront Arena on Nov. 9.

The "Privateer Fan Fest" is part of the UNO Presidential Investiture Weekend and gets underway at 4:30 p.m. in the area adjacent to 'Ramp 1' of Lakefront Arena.

The two featured entertainment acts at the heart of the Privateer Tailgate Village will be UNO student band Fuj and T-Ray, a UNO alum who plays hip hop violin. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, tailgate and enjoy the festivities.

Once on-site, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in several activities including those hosted by the Monster Energy Team and Games 2 U. In addition to their mobile gaming unit, Games 2 U will have stations for laser tag and hamster ball games.

Spacewalk of Greater New Orleans will have inflatable games at Privateer Fan Fest while Lagniappe Ministries will offer snowballs and free face painting. For those who elect not to tailgate, food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The 'Fan Fest' will run until 7 p.m. at which time fans are encouraged to bring the fun indoors where more special events are planned as the Lady Privateers will be in the midst of their contest against future Southland Conference foe Northwestern State. The UNO men's basketball team will conclude the doubleheader against San Jose State at 8 p.m.
