UNO Kicks Off Week of Excellence with Mary Matalin and James Carville

"Post 2012 Presidential Election: A Living Room Chat" with Mary Matalin and James Carville

If you thought Tuesday was fun, make sure to turn out Thursday to the University Center Ballroom, where America's favorite political couple, James Carville and Mary Matalin, kick off the University's "Week of Excellence."

Carville and Matalin will launch the University's new Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Lecture Series with a talk entitled "Post 2012 Presidential Election: A Living Room Chat." The event, hosted by the UNO Founders Club, is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the University Center Ballroom.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. But get there early: Seating is limited and seats will go first-come, first-serve to the first 750 guests to arrive. After that, the event will be standing-room only.

"The presentation will focus on all aspects of the election, including the efficacy of pre-election strategies by the candidates, election outcomes and implications for the next four years," Gambit weekly newspaper says.

UNO alumnus, Gambit publisher and award-winning political commentator Clancy DuBos will moderate the discussion, fielding a few questions from the audience. This talk is the first of the Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Lecture Series aimed to bring distinguished speakers from around the world to the University of New Orleans in an effort to stimulate, connect and educate the community. A $2 million capital campaign to endow the series has just begun.
