Get to Know UNO: Office of Admissions Plans Fall Open House

The University of New Orleans Office of Admissions is busily gearing up for a fall open house designed to draw new students from around the region and the world.

"Get to Know UNO" is open to high school students and parents. The day includes campus tours, an introduction to UNO's Performing Arts Center and Fine Arts Gallery, a chance to peruse academic programs, opportunities to meet faculty and students and a breakout session on financial aid. The open house, which drew more than 400 visitors last year, runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Check-in is at 9:30 a.m. in the University Center Ballroom.

“Get to Know UNO is a great opportunity for students, parents, and guests to see campus, meet faculty and staff, and get a glimpse of academic and extracurricular involvements,” said Christy Heaton, Associate Director for First Year Orientation and Student Success. “It is a really fun day. The academic departments go all out with displays that showcase their programs and highlight the great things they are doing. Prospective students get to speak with current students and learn about what life is like as a UNO student. We have several student leaders and organizations come out too.”

Prospective students may apply for entry to the University on site or anytime throughout the academic year in the Office of Admissions, Heaton said. They may also apply online via the University website,
