Apostille Process/Certificates of Authentication
Some foreign governments or institutions require diplomas, transcripts or degree verifications to have a certification of authentication or apostille.
For more information, please visit: Louisiana Secretary of State
To request this process for documents from the University of New Orleans, please:
1. Order your diploma or transcript through Parchment.com and ask that it be sent to graduation@uno.edu.

2. Send a apostille request to graduation@uno.edu with your name and some type of identifying information such as your student number, your birth date or the last 4 digits of your social security number.
Let us know which items you are having sent to us to apostille. We will print the documents and authenticate it with our seal.
If you also/only need a degree verification letter, specify that, and we will print it and authenticate it with our seal.
Also let us know if you want us to send the documents to the Secretary of State after we process it, or if you are picking up the documents to deliver to the Secretary of State yourself.
3. Print and complete the Authentication Request Form that is on the Secretary of State website (links copied below) if the documents are being mailed to the Secretary of State by you or us. (If you are delivering the documents in person to the Secretary of State, you may complete the form in their office.)
The form includes a fee of $20 per document (charged by the Secretary of State). You are able to put your credit/debit card information on the form to be charged by the Secretary of State when they process the apostilled documents or send a check to us or them.

4. If UNO is sending the documents to the Secretary of State, send a copy of the completed Authentication Request Form to graduation@uno.edu.
(The form can be by attachment, scan or even an attached cell phone photo that shows the complete form clearly.)
5. There is a space on the form to specify where to send the documents once they are completed by the Secretary of State. Decide how you wish the completed documents to be mailed back to you/your intended address.
(You may be able to get same-day service if you visit the Secretary of State office in person with the documents. Call their number on the website or form above to find out if this is possible.)
If you wish it to be mailed to you by regular mail: If we are sending the documents to the Secretary of State, we will provide a first-class envelope with postage to the Secretary of State in our envelope to them. If the UNO Post Office has Certified Mail add-ons available, then we will include that and provide the numbers to you to track.
If you wish it to be mailed to you by Priority/Express mail, or if you wish it to be mailed to you by FedEx, UPS or DHL, you will need to create the label with you/the intended address as the recipient, and scan/email it to us so that we can include it in your envelope to the Secretary of State.
(You can also include a label for UNO to send the documents to the Secretary of State if you wish.)
We then send your authenticated documents, your Secretary of State form, and a return envelope or your postage label if you provided one, to the Secretary of State office. They certify (provide an apostille) for the diploma, certifying both the official document and our authentication, and mail it to the address you provide on the Secretary of State form.
We generally mail out the diploma and form to the Secretary of State within 3 days of receiving everything. The Secretary of State website says that once they receive it, they generally process and mail out the apostilled documents within 3 days.
