UNO to Play Host to Student Robotics Competition

Middle and high school students from four states will gather at the University of New Orleans campus on February 16 for the Red Stick Robotics VEX Robotics Competition. More than 30 teams from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Virginia will compete at UNO’s Human Performance Center.

Participating schools includes those from Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Lafourche and Washington parishes.

Participants will battle against each other in the game Sack Attack, developed by VEX Robotics, Inc. and the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation. The top performing teams from the tournament at UNO will qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship in April at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. The World Championship features top-ranked teams from countries including Brazil, China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Saturday, February 16
  • 7:30-9 a.m.                  Practice Rounds
  • 9-9:15 a.m.                  Opening Ceremonies
  • 9:15 a.m.-12 p.m.        Qualifying Rounds
  • 12-1 p.m.                     Lunch
  • 1-2 p.m.                       Qualifying Rounds
  • 2-2:30 p.m.                  Alliance Selection
  • 2:30-4:30 p.m.             Elimination Rounds
  • 4:30-5 p.m.                  Award Ceremonies
