UNO to Offer In-State Tuition to Eligible First-Year Out-of-State Students

Beginning in the fall semester of 2013, the University of New Orleans will offer in-state tuition rates to first-year, out-of-state undergraduate students who meet eligibility requirements. According to UNO President Peter J. Fos, the Privateer First Year Scholarship will help the University cast a wider net in attracting more high ability students from across the country and around the world.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer this scholarship to eligible students," Fos said. "UNO features a dynamic and diverse student body, dedicated faculty and staff, and superb academic programs at an excellent value. We are pleased that we can make the University more accessible to an even greater number of students."

All first-year, out-of-state students who meet the following requirements are eligible to receive the Privateer First Year Scholarship:

  • A minimum ACT composite score of 23 (1060 on the SAT)
  • A minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.5

Once enrolled at UNO, students who earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 at the end of the academic year and carry a full-time course load of at least 12 hours per semester will continue to receive the scholarship. The scholarship is limited to eight semesters.
