Deutsches Haus Presents Check to UNO Center Austria

Representatives of Deutsches Haus recently presented a $5,000 check to the University of New Orleans Center Austria in support of UNO students studying in the "Academic Year Abroad" program in Innsbruck and other universities in German speaking countries. Deutsches Haus is the premier institution in New Orleans representing German-speaking ethnic communities and their past and organizer of the city's popular Oktoberfest.

Center Austria's aim is to strengthen relationships and direct international student and faculty mobility between the University of New Orleans and universities in Austria. Launched in 1997 as a research and discourse hub for Austrian and European Studies, the New Orleans-based Center Austria promotes the communication and extension of Austrian and Central European culture through scholarly and artistic activities and academic partnerships.

The center builds its strength on more than three decades of cooperation with the University of Innsbruck and a sister-city agreement between the cities of Innsbruck, Austria and New Orleans, as well as a new partnership agreement with the University of Graz, Austria. Each academic year, Center Austria and the UNO Division of International Education coordinate an undergraduate study abroad program, as well as an international summer school program at Innsbruck.
