UNO's Annual Holiday Food Drive Encourages All Kinds of Spirit

The University of New Orleans is already preparing for the holidays with an annual holiday food drive designed to help area needy. Providing an assist, the University's Athletics Department has partnered with Ochsner Health System with plans to give one complimentary general admission ticket to the first 100 people donating three non-perishable food items at Thursday's men's basketball game at Lakefront Arena.

The UNO Staff Council kicks off its annual Holiday Food Drive at a lunchtime meeting on Thursday, Nov. 15, where students, staff and faculty in attendance are encouraged to bring three nonperishable items. The food drive is traditionally put on in cooperation with the Faculty Senate and Student Government and now the UNO Privateers, who have asked guests to bring nonperishable items to Thursday's 7 p.m. contest against Bethune-Cookman.

Fans seeking to contribute to the food drive are encouraged to bring their non-perishable food items to a representative stationed at the base of 'Ramp 1'. The goods collected on Thursday will be delivered to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans.
