Speakers, 1200 Minutes and Even More Great Ideas”

The University of New Orleans Department of Marketing and Logistics brings top marketers from around the region to campus next week to help interested students, particularly marketing majors, polish their skills as they prepare for careers in marketing.

Marketing Week runs from Monday through Thursday, Oct. 22-25. The College of Business Administration’s Department of Marketing and Logistics has scheduled guest speakers in all marketing classes, as well as two lunchtime seminars.

The American Marketing Association will present “Networking 101: Learn How to Network From the Best.” from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Kirschman Hall, Room 214.

Keynote speaker Lauren Thom, who is chief executive officer and founder of Fleurty Girl, a New Orleans-inspired line of T-shirts, accessories and other locally made goods, will serve as UNO Marketing Week’s Keynote Speaker, addressing the UNO community at a lunchtime seminar from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 in Kirschman Hall, Room 129. The event will be sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Lecture Series and Northwestern Mutual of Louisiana. Lunch will be provided.

“We want to give marketing majors — and all UNO students — an opportunity to hear from successful marketers and to have the opportunity to polish their skills as they prepare for a career in marketing,” said Pamela A. Kennett-Hensel, chair and professor in the department of marketing and logistics. "Anyone who would like to sit in on a class to hear a speaker is invited to do that."

Twenty speakers will address the marketing department’s marketing strategy, principles of marketing, promotion management, personal selling, consumer behavior, sales management, marketing management, strategic marketing, introduction to marketing research, advanced marketing research, advertising and logistics classes.

The speakers hail from leading organizations in the region, including: Peter A. Mayer Advertising, the American Cancer Society, Northwestern Mutual of Louisiana, FSC Interactive, Big Easy Sports Complex, Offbeat Magazine, Aegis, Ltd. Marketing, il Stratega, Susco Solutions and Touch Studios, Moroch, The Irwin Brown Company, Ochsner Health System and Tales of the Cocktail, a signature Louisiana event.

A number of the speakers are UNO Alumni.

A schedule of speakers is now visible on monitors in UNO's College of Business of Administration and is included here on this link.
