Campus communication - August 28, 2018
Dear Colleagues,
We have made significant progress on the University’s Workday project. As a reminder, we are moving to Workday, a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform that will replace the current PeopleSoft system. We are implementing Workday along with Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana Tech in a highly coordinated effort that represents unprecedented collaboration among University of Louisiana System institutions.
The plan is to go live with Workday’s HR/Payroll and Financials functions in July 2019. The student components to the ERP will be added the following year.
Here are some of the key milestones met thus far:
- HR, Financials, Integration and Data Conversion teams have traveled more than 30 times to each other’s campuses to keep activities on task and harness the power of the three institutions
- Completed more than 300 units of training (47 team members have taken 153 different courses)
- Completed more than 2,100 hours of consulting services
- Completed first two phases of the project on time and on budget
As a reminder, the move to Workday is prompting us to make changes to our payroll schedules and frequency. All full-time and part-time academic employees will transition to the new academic pay group beginning this Friday, August 31. From that point on, that group will be paid monthly. All fiscal (non-academic, unclassified) employees will transition to a biweekly payroll beginning Jan. 1, 2019. Please consult this detailed FAQ page to learn more about our payroll changes.
I realize that you will have questions about the implementation process as we lead up to our launch next summer. We have set up uno.edu/workday to serve as the central portal for information on the transition. As more milestones are reached, trainings are added and resources become available, we will update the site. Our goal is to be transparent and communicative throughout the implementation.
UNO Proud,
John Nicklow
