Bryon Reiger grew up in and around New Orleans. He joined the Army after dropping out of Loyola and failing as a drummer in a garage band. Bryon continued to pursue his undergraduate education part-time while on active duty, completing his BA in English in 2014. After nine years of being a medic and a nurse, he found his passion writing plays during a workshop for veterans and service members. His work was featured in the reading series, Veterans Onstage with Paula Vogel. Once he started writing plays, he didn’t want to stop, and so he applied to get an MFA at UNO. When he got into the program, Bryon fell down the stairs into the basement laughing the whole time. Bryon’s plays have been produced in New Orleans, including a production of The Killing Noise of the Out of Style, in the 2017 InFringe Festival.
Bryon is grateful for the opportunity to teach Freshmen Composition and serve as the Coordinator Associate for First Year Writing and Creative Writing. He lives in New Orleans with his three kids.
