          The mission of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to provide affordable, quality undergraduate and graduate education in the areas of electrical and computer engineering. In order to support the urban mission of the University, the emphasis in the undergraduate program is in serving both the traditional and non-traditional student in the New Orleans and surrounding regions.

        • Mechanical EngineeringDepartment of Mechanical Engineering

          The department has a goal of producing well-educated mechanical engineers, who will be successfully employed at the regional and national levels, or who will continue on with graduate studies. In particular the department's goal is to supply the Gulf Coast region with competent mechanical engineers, while addressing the special needs of the oil (onshore and offshore), petrochemical/process, aerospace, and manufacturing industries.

The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering was established in 1980 on demand by the local shipbuilding and offshore industry. The school provides the marine industry with well educated graduates and supports its progress through basic and applied research. Our graduates are on high demand and find positions usually well before their actual graduation in a wide range of marine enterprises.
