Position Summary

The full-time, Program Advisor position reports to the Associate Director, who reports to the Director.  Duties and responsibilities in this position are consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of Upward Bound (UB). 

The position requires a self-motivated individual proficient in assessment, strategic planning and implementing student success initiatives designed to accomplish goals and objectives of UB programs.  Requires excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse students.  Individuals applying should be persistent and committed to student programming.  The ideal candidate will be creative and accountable. Willingness to work with students in various high schools, 26 Saturdays from September to May, and some evenings throughout the academic year.

 

Responsibilities

Conduct effective and grade-appropriate academic, vocational, cultural and motivational workshops/activities. ​Responsible for collecting appropriate documentation for the identification, recruitment, selection, and delivery of services to participants each year. Responsible for post-secondary placement of all assigned “college-ready” participants. Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and submission of weekly and monthly reports on all major areas of responsibility.  ​ 

Responsible for reviewing participants’ needs assessments and develop an Individualized Academic Progress Plan (IAPP) for all (100%) assigned participants.

Responsible for accurate documentation of all services and activities provided to participants via daily contact logs and data entry into the database (Blumen).

Adhere to the established Plan of Operation, Curriculum, Process Policy, Program Procedures and all other related federal Trio regulations.

Abide by administrative policies/procedures addressed in the Staff Reference Manual and UNO rules, regulations, and policies.

Perform other job-related tasks as assigned. ​

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. 

Training and/or experience in working with “at risk” youth and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or disabilities.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
