Position Summary

Reporting to the Office of the Provost, the Registrar is responsible for all activities related to student records (course schedules, registration, grade reports, transcripts, degree audits, enrollment analysis, and reports).

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing Registrar’s Office functions including but not limited to course inventory, class registration, grading, academic action, classroom scheduling, final exam scheduling, University catalog, curriculum management, degree audit, evaluation and posting of transfer credit, articulation agreements, external enrollment reporting, development of the academic calendar and production of official transcripts, diplomas and commencement ceremonies.
  •  
  • Ensuring that the University complies with all federal and state requirements for records and reporting, as well as requirements related to accreditation, and providing data and documentation to state, federal and legislative auditors.
  •  
  • Collaborating with Information Technology for effective operation of current systems and implementation of new systems.
  •  
  • Processing all special enrollments for Executive programs, Dual Enrollment students, etc.
  •  
  • Collaborating and communicating with the Financial Aid Office staff and the Bursar on students’ financial aid/tuition issues and enrollment cancellation.
  •  
  • Preparing studies related to student outcomes, assessment, academic programs and institutional effectiveness review.

  • Serving as the University’s document retention manager and as the NCAA certifying officer.

  • Hiring, supervising and mentoring Registrar’s Office staff members.

  • Managing the Registrar’s Office and Commencement budget.

  • Acting as the UNO representative at Board of Regents, UL system, Academic Common market and other organizations, as required.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  •  
  • At least five (5)years of progressive management experience in a records and registration environment.
  •  
  • Working knowledge of computerized student records systems.
  •  
  • Experience working with the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC).
  •  
  • Ability to develop reports, plans and budgets.
  •  
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of relational databases and SQL, and a demonstrated ability to learn new software systems as needed.
  •  
  • A successful record of working with a large diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  •  
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with college departments and cross-functional teams.
  •  
  • A positive attitude and ability to plan and adapt to change.

 

 

Desired Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree.
  •  
  • Previous experience as a University registrar.
  •  
  • Knowledge of and prior use of PeopleSoft.
  •  
  • Previous experience working with Workday’s higher education systems.
  •  
  • Proven leadership and a successful record of interacting with professionals across disciplines.
  •
