All students enrolled at UNO have access to Ochsner Health Clinic - UNO, regardless of whether or not they have insurance of any kind. However, we only provide primary care.
Unfortunately, the university is no longer able to continue offering a voluntary health insurance policy for domestic students. Domestic students are encouraged to seek out insurance options through the federal insurance marketplace. Individuals can enroll in 2021 insurance plans through the marketplace until August 15, 2021. Students might also qualify for Medicaid based on income.
UNO requires international students in F and J immigration status to have medical insurance coverage. Charges for the University's insurance plan are automatically placed on bills each term for international students. Students with their own coverage that meets the University's minimum requirements may request a waiver of the insurance fee. Additional information about the requirements and how to request an insurance waiver is available here.
UNO does not adjudicate claims nor does it intercede in claim disputes. Questions regarding claims or enrollment should be addressed to the insurance company. Please read the policy carefully including the exclusions and call the insurance company with any questions.
It is very important to keep the insurance company (and UNO) abreast of any changes in your address. Relevant contact information is listed below.
