Early Intervention: Training and Collaboration (TAC) project

The birth-to-five Early Intervention Program provides funding to students who qualify for the program.

At the University of New Orleans there are three options to earn a certification in Early Intervention (EI).

Add-On Certification

To qualify for the add-on certification program, the candidate must already hold a teaching certificate. The EI add-on certification program is 18 credit hours.

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

Graduate study is offered in Early Intervention which leads to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree. The program is designed to train individuals who are NOT certified but want to obtain their initial certification. The program provides candidates with certification in Early Intervention as well as a master’s degree. The program of study is 36 credit hours.

Masters of Education (M.Ed.)

Graduate study is offered in Early Intervention which leads to an advanced Masters in Education (M.Ed.) degree.  In order to be eligible for this program, the candidate must hold a teaching certificate in a related area of education. The program provides candidates with certification in Early Intervention as well as a master’s degree. The program of study is 36 credit hours.

How to Apply

All individuals must be enrolled at the University of New Orleans in order to qualify for this federally-funded program.  The first step is to apply to UNO and then complete the application and submit to Dr. Linda Flynn.

Application Requirements
Facts to Consider Annual student stipends are provided
For every one year of full-time funding, individuals must teach for 2 years in Early Intervention/Special Education
Classes are offered via online, video conferencing, and face-to-face
