Brett E. Kemker, Ph.D.

Dean of Students

Brett E. Kemker, Ph.D. is the Dean of Students at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Kemker brings faculty and administrative experience from a number of institutions of higher education, serving as a tenured faculty member, faculty senator, department chair, associate dean, and assistant provost. His research interests lie in the investigation of the effects of auditory and visual stimuli on cognitive resource allocation in normal and neurologically challenged people. More recently his research interests have expanded to include investigations of student persistence in higher education.

He has published and presented over 100 original papers in top tier journals, conventions, and consortiums all over the world. He has a strong record of grant writing with awards exceeding $4 million thus far.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree and Ph.D from the University of Florida.

Dr. Kemker has been an active member of the faculty at a number of institutions of higher education including: Nova Southeastern University, Louisiana Tech University, University of Southern Mississippi, and the Florida State University. He brings his experiences and vision to his role at The University of New Orleans as Dean of Students.
