Meet the Dean of Students

Dr. Carolyn Golz, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students, is the senior student affairs officer for the University of New Orleans (UNO). In this role, Dr. Golz provides vision and leadership for the student affairs units which include career services, counseling services,  disability services, student accountability, student health services, student involvement and leadership, testing services, and TRIO programs. Dr. Golz reports to the Provost and works closely with academic deans and others on campus to create a seamless cocurricular experience that supports success for all UNO students.

The first in her family to go to college, Dr. Golz earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She earned her M.S. in criminal justice administration from Ferris State University and her M.S. in experiential education from the Minnesota State University Mankato. She earned her Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Prior to coming to UNO, Dr. Golz served as the senior student affairs officer for two undergraduate colleges at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She also previously served as the senior associate dean of students and director of residence life at Lake Forest College. Dr. Golz has over 15 years of experience in student affairs and she leverages her depth and breadth of experience to develop student engagement initiatives that support student learning and success.
