Division of Student Affairs
Counseling Services offers problem assessment, short-term personal (mental health)
counseling, career testing and counseling to currently-enrolled UNO students. These
services are focused on the resolution of students’ current personal concerns and
problems which might interfere with academic functioning. Counseling Services also
provides consultation services for UNO faculty and staff with concerns about students,
and psychoeducational outreach and workshops to the UNO community.
Career Services provides a range of services for currently-enrolled UNO students or
recent alumni to assist them with identifying, clarifying and pursuing their career
goals. Services include résumé and cover letter writing and review, mock interviewing,
professional skills development, networking opportunities, on-campus recruiting events,
career fairs, and the coordination of internships and experiential
The administrative Office of Disability Services collaborates with students who have
disabilities in order to coordinate support services and programs that enable equal
access to an education and university life. The University of New Orleans aims to

The Learning Resource Center at UNO provides information on how to get FREE tutoring
for a variety of subjects. We offer review sessions for historically difficult courses,
writing assistance, math tutoring in both a group setting or individualized programs,
and a computer lab with 23 workstations that can be scheduled for special class sessions.
Parking and Traffic Regulations, established by the University Police department,
provides fair and orderly parking and traffic flow for all faculty, staff, students
and visitors to the University. Students who feel that a ticket was issued in error,
or the circumstances warrants consideration, you may submit an appeal.
Student Accountability and Advocacy aims to educate and promote the policies of Student
Code of Conduct, Academic Dishonesty, the UNO Student Handbook and other University
policies. The office helps students who feel that a University policy and/or their
rights have been violated. Through Student Assistance, the office attempts to improve
students' self advocacy skills and conflict resolutions skills.
Student Health Services is committed to providing the highest quality health care
to the UNO community. Health Services offers evaluation and treatment of illness and
injury, as well as educational programming for health promotion and illness prevention.
Primary care is provided to students, on an appointment, and walk-in basis. A health
insurance plan is also available.

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) is committed to providing opportunities
through which students may become meaningfully involved in campus life. Our programs
support the enhancement of learning, educational growth and holistic development of
students. The areas that fall within the purview of SIL include: Community Service
Opportunities, Greek Life, Leadership Initiatives, Registered Student Organizations,
Student Activities Council, and Student Government.
Office of Enrollment Services
The Office of Admissions at UNO assists students apply to the University. The office
has many admission counselors on staff to help every type and category of student.
Prospective students will have access to admission requirements, online application,

service, maintain compliance of federal, state, system and institutional regulations,
rules, policies and laws. To offer maximum opportunities of financial assistance
to eligible students in combination with resources expected from the student and parent
and other sources, which will provide financial assistance to help eligible students
fund their educational expenses to complete their degree.
In alliance with the mission and strategic plan of The University of New Orleans and
the Office of Enrollment Services, First Year Advising (FYA) is dedicated to fostering
the academic growth and development of first year students. Operating from a student
centered approach and a collaborative effort, FYA provides sound academic advising,
models best practices, mentors incoming freshmen and welcomes new students into the
The staff at First Year Experience (FYE) help first year students at UNO transition
into college life. The office strives to make students' transition as easy as possible
by providing student success coaching, programs, StregnthsQuest assessments, and other
resources for students. Students are always encouraged to ask questions and students
you in the right direction.
New Student Orientation (NSO) is designed to assist students with the transition to
UNO academic and student life. Our orientation programs feature small group discussions
directed by current UNO students to introduce university resources, campus facilities,
student services, social and recreational activities, and answer any questions students
may have concerning UNO or the college experience. It is a chance to positively make
new friends and begin an academic life.
The Privateer Enrollment Center (PEC) can assist students with academic advising,
investigate financial aid, enrollment, registering for classes, paying fee bills,
obtaining parking decals, as well as, answering questions. The Privateer Enrollment
Center is located on the first floor of the Earl K. Long Library and houses all components
of the Office of Enrollment Services, including First Year Advising (FYA).
The purpose of Student Support Services is to ensure that participants in the program
have a realistic chance to persist in school and graduate from the University of New
Orleans. To accomplish these objectives, Student Support Services provides services
to enhance students' academic success, personal skills, and social skills. Providing
services in these areas corresponds to the University's mission to support students'
intellectual development, personal growth, and community advancement.
Presently, services performed by Testing Services are related to the administration,
scanning, scoring and interpretation of tests; evaluations of instruction; academic
support services for instruction; data input for research; scannable document preparation;
and administrative data input and analysis.
