Selective Services

Louisiana law requires the University to ensure that most male new and continuing students who are:

  • U.S. citizens or malealiens living in the U.S., and
  • between the ages 18 through 25, and
  • attending a Louisiana college or university

are required to provide proof of selective service registration in order to remain in school. If you have not registered with the selective Service, you can do so by obtaining the proper forms from any U.S. Post office or accessing the Selective Service website at

New students and re-entry students should bring proof of Selective Service registration to the Office of Admissions. Continuing students should bring documentation to the Office of the Registrar.

If you will receive aid for the semester/term you should have information on your FAFSA form that confirms your Selective Service registration. If this is the case, then no further action is required on your part.

If you will be under the age of 18 at the beginning of a semester/term but will turn 18 during the semester, you must provide proof of Selective Service registration prior to registering for a subsequent semester.
