Research Interests

Earth Surface Processes, Coastal/Estuarine Hydrodynamics and Sediment Transport, Delta morphodynamics, Sediment dynamics at Barrier Islands and inlets

Dr. Georgiou?s research interests include tidal and wind induced circulation in lakes and estuaries, and resulting transport of salinity and sediments. Exchange processes governing water and sediment flux along inlets, barrier islands, and the interaction of interior bays with the coastal ocean. Evaluation of approaches to the restoration coastal wetlands using numerical models and field based observations. Wave dynamics and long-shore/cross-shore transport studies and their relationship to the stability of barrier islands and inlets. Hydrodynamics, sedimentation processes and resulting morphology in riverine and deltaic systems. Process sedimentology in tidal and deltaic systems, and the interaction of flow and resulting morphology within the fluvial to marine transition in coastal rivers
