Letter from the President

President Peter FosUNO Community,

Communicating who a university is, is a complicated task.  There are so many pieces and so many successes, that telling the whole story each time is not easy.  Yet, communicating who we are is vital.  We must do it every day and we must all do it.  The way we represent UNO creates an impression of us.  When we create an impression, we are building a brand.  A strong brand leads to strong outcomes.

We must not only continue, but increase our (each of our) efforts to promote UNO.  We must continually increase our visibility in the region and among our given fields.  More, though, is not the only factor in a successful communication equation.  Consistency is as well.

A great marketer once noted the following:

Successful Communication = Clarity x Consistency x Repetition

By being so visible to the city, the region, the world, presenting a clear, coordinated identity, we give the University of New Orleans a face that more people can recognize and value.

The identity standards detailed in this manual provide a visual language that reflects the university as a whole, while still preserving the individuality of our many parts.  It is designed to answer your questions about logos, colors, typography and more.  Please keep it handy and apply these standards consistently.

We proudly carry the name of our unique city and will continue to reflect the strengths of our community.  Thank you for taking pride in our University and our City.

Peter J. Fos

President
