UNO and Latter & Blum to Present Annual Economic Outlook & Real Estate Forecast Seminar

The University of New Orleans and Latter and Blum Inc. will present the 2015 Economic Outlook and Real Estate Forecast Seminar for the New Orleans region on May 8 in the Sen. The University of New Orleans and Latter & Blum, Inc. will present the 2015 Economic Outlook and Real Estate Forecast Seminar for the New Orleans region on May 8. It will take place in the Sen. Ted Hickey Ballroom in the University Center from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The annual seminar brings together representatives from a wide cross-section of the region’s business, professional and civic communities.

Registration and networking begin at 8 a.m., followed by opening remarks from UNO President Peter J. Fos and John Williams, dean of the College of Business Administration.

The first panel, entitled “Healthcare and the Demand for Real Estate in the New Orleans Historic Center,” will be moderated by Walter Lane, chair of the UNO Department of Economics and Finance. Paolo Zambito of Louisiana Children’s Medical Center Health and a representative from the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System will provide an overview of the new University Medical Center/Veterans Administration hospital complex and its economic impacts.

The next two panels, moderated by Robert Penick, vice president and chief financial officer of Latter & Blum, Inc. as well as a UNO adjunct faculty member, will address the trends and outlooks for the real estate market.

The residential real estate panel features Richard Haase of Latter & Blum, Inc. and Larry Schedler of Larry G. Schedler & Associates. The commercial real estate panelists include Bruce Sossaman of Corporate Realty, Kirsten Early of SRSA Commercial Real Estate and David Quinn of Max J. Derbes, Inc.

The cost to attend the seminar is $40 if registered by May 4 and $45 at the door. The event is free to UNO faculty, staff and students, but they must also register.
