The Hyatt Regency New Orleans donated $500 to the University of New Orleans Department of Music. The money was raised during a month-long musical showcase that featured a number of UNO student and alumni performers.

All of the artists who performed at “Jazz: Live at Hyatt” during the month of January agreed to donate 10 percent of their performance fees to UNO. The series, which is intended to transport guests back to the golden age of jazz and cabaret, is held every Friday and Saturday night in the atrium at 8 Block Kitchen & Bar. The January performances featured Vegas Cola & Girl Power, T Ray the Violinist, Phil Sylve, D. Selina and Kevin Stylez.

“Music is a cultural treasure in New Orleans,” said Michael Smith, general manager of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. “‘Jazz: Live at Hyatt’ is designed to capture the rich history that New Orleans has with the jazz community, and we’re thrilled to introduce these talented, emerging local artists to our guests for a truly exceptional evening of live music.”
