The UNO-St. Claude Gallery, located at 2429 St. Claude Ave., will hold an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 14.

All are invited.

The UNO Visual Arts League is the Fine Arts student organization on campus and last year hosted the area's first metropolitan juried student exhibition, said Kathy Rodriguez, a UNO Fine Arts instructor. The event was such a hit that this year the Visual Arts League expanded efforts and joined forces with Untitled, the student fine arts organization at Loyola, to again host the competition. The result is a show that opens at university galleries this week.

This spring the two student organizations made a call to upperclassmen undergraduate students and graduate students in fine arts in the region, said Rodriguez.

Each group chose a juror -- Amy Mackie for Untitled and UNO MFA alumnus Alex Podesta for the Visula Arts League – who judged a distinct exhibition of 33 artists' works submitted via digital images. Mackie chose 16 works by 14 artists for exhibition at PARSE fine arts gallery; Podesta chose 20 works by 16 University of New Orleans student artists to show at the University's St. Claude Gallery.
