UNO Athletics Plans Fourth Annual Privateers Twilight Tennis Gala

Tennis at Twilight: University of New Orleans Head Tennis Coach Burzis Kanga is busily planning his fourth annual fundraiser, with plans of raising $50,000 for New Orleans Athletics and Privateers Tennis.

UNO Athletics Hosts Fourth Annual Twilight Tennis Classic

The Fourth Annual Tennis Twilight Gala is a semi-formal event at Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner. This year, the will run from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Special guests, John Walton and Steve Johnson from the Walton and Johnson radio show will serve as hosts  The event will also include live music by BRW with the greatest sounds of Motown, a silent auction, gourmet food, and adult beverages.

Support may be formalized through the purchase of a table or individual tickets to the event, Gala sponsorship, or a donation of cash or auction items, Kanga said. The fun-filled event is always a featured fete in fall.

Three hundred guests are expected to attend the semi-formal event at Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner. "Our guests will also have the opportunity to meet our coaches and university leaders and interact with our student-athletes who directly benefit from funds raised from this event," said Kanga. "Also, we are thrilled to welcome home our tennis alumni from the 1980s for this event, the featured gathering of their reunion weekend."

Funds generated from the Privateers Twilight Tennis Gala are used to upgrade and maintain the University's elite tennis center and enhance resources dedicated to a positive student-athlete experience at UNO, said Kanga.

"While we continuously strive to improve our facilities, the student-athlete experience is our foremost priority," he said in a letter to sponsors. "We genuinely believe in providing our student-athletes with every opportunity to develop into strong leaders who are prepared to excel in every area of life after graduation. Your attendance at the Gala and financial support of our programs will make a difference and impact the lives of our current and future student-athletes.:
